SUMMARY:William Kentridge Self-Portrait as a Coffee-Pot
DESCRIPTION:jump to english version \n  \nDie filmischen Collagen\, die sich aus teils animierten Kohle- und Pastellzeichnungen aber auch dreidimensionalen\, geradezu lebendig gewordenen Objekten und Assemblagen sowie Atelieraufnahmen zusammensetzen\, legen den Prozess des Kunstschaffens\, aber auch des Reflektierens von Kunst und Kunstmachen im Verhältnis zu gesellschaftlichen Realitäten offen. Während der Coronapandemie entstanden\, bilden die Kurzfilme eine nichtlineare (Selbst-)Erzählung über das Künstlersubjekt\, seine künstlerische Praxis und das Atelier als Produktionsort\, der gleichermaßen als Wahrnehmungsapparat von Wirklichkeiten dient. Teils sachlich\, wahlweise auch leicht melancholisch\, teils von subtilem Humor und (Selbst-)Ironie durchzogen\, räsoniert der Künstler über Inhalte\, Formen\, Wirkmächtigkeit\, Bezugssysteme und vor allem die Sinnhaftigkeit von Kunst als welthaltiger Arbeit. Hierbei sind die Grenzen zwischen Privatem und Öffentlichem\, Individuellem\, Persönlichem und Kollektivem untrennbar miteinander verwoben. Gleichwohl wird auch immer einen Möglichkeitsraum der Distanzierung und des Perspektivwechsels hergestellt. \n  \nKonzept und Realisierung BLMK \n  \nKooperationspartner \n  \n\n\n  \n\n…\nThe core of the cabinet exhibition is a nine-episode film series by South African artist William Kentridge. \n  \nThe film collages\, composed of partly animated charcoal and pastel drawings\, as well as three-dimensional\, almost lifelike objects and assemblages\, as well as studio recordings\, reveal the process of creating art\, but also the reflection of art and artmaking in relation to social realities. Created during the coronavirus pandemic\, the short films form a nonlinear (self-)narrative about the artist\, their artistic practice\, and the studio as a place of production that equally serves as an apparatus for perceiving realities. At times matter-of-fact\, at times slightly melancholic\, at times permeated with subtle humor and (self-)irony\, the artist reflects on content\, form\, effectiveness\, systems of reference\, and above all\, the meaningfulness of art as a work that sustains the world. Here\, the boundaries between private and public\, individual\, personal\, and collective are inextricably intertwined.
