DESCRIPTION:Benjamin Badock\, Gabriele Basch\, Jan Brokof\, Kurt Buchwald\, Jana Gunstheimer\, Jakob Hinrichs\, Günther Hornig\, Frank Lippold\, Inken Reinert\, Nadja Schöllhammer\, Michaela Schweiger\, Anja Warzecha\, Eva-Maria Wilde \n  \njump to english version  \n  \nIn der fotografischen Befragung von Wirklichkeit werden überblendete Orte zur rätselhaften Kulisse einer fragmentierten Zeit. Wahrnehmung als Splitter referieren auch Holzschnitte\, die mit Auslassungen und Verzerrungen arbeiten. Als Spielwürfel können Stadtansichten aus Frankfurt (Oder) immer wieder neu zusammengesetzt werden. Ein Jugendzimmer im Plattenbau ersteht als Druckgrafik in Originalgröße auf und ist tatsächlich begehbarer Raum. Der Plattenbau selbst wird durch einen Modulator zum erschwinglichen druckgrafischen Produkt oder als detaillierte Farbstiftzeichnung in Übergröße zur endlosen Reihung. Scherenschnitte schälen sich aus der Wand und oszillieren zwischen Präsenz und Absenz. Als freche Kommentare rebellieren sie gegen starre Ordnungssysteme\, die aus dem Papier erwachsen. Im Materialmix werden Leerstand und Ödnis ebenso wie die ideologische Indienstnahme von textilem Handwerk sowie neue (ost-)deutsche Realitäten verhandelt. \n  \nAn Architektur erinnernde Objekte konkurrieren mit einer Installation aus DDR-Pressspan\, die den fiktionalen Zustand einer Welt abseits der Zweckbindung von Schrankwand und Co. eigens für die Ausstellung inszeniert. Die Brüchigkeit auch von Identität wird über Biografien von Ostberliner Frauen akustisch und visuell erfahrbar. Sie wird mit Fragen nach den Träumen und Wünschen der Protagonistinnen verkoppelt und für Frankfurt (Oder) weitergedacht. \n\n…\nThrough the constant interplay of presence and absence\, the exhibition „Cutting Spaces“ in the Rathaushalle Frankfurt (Oder) conquers the third dimension. Images are cut\, disassembled\, assembled\, and recombined. The city itself is the central focus\, a topos that brings spaces together in maximum density and embodies multiperspectivity as the norm. \n  \nIn the photographic exploration of reality\, superimposed locations become the enigmatic backdrop of a fragmented time. Perception as fragments is also referenced in woodcuts that employ omissions and distortions. Like dice\, cityscapes of Frankfurt (Oder) can be reassembled again and again. A teenager’s room in a prefabricated apartment building is reborn as a life-size print\, becoming a truly walk-in space. The apartment building itself is transformed into an affordable print through a modulator\, or into an endless series as a detailed\, oversized colored pencil drawing. Paper cutouts peel themselves from the wall\, oscillating between presence and absence. As cheeky commentaries\, they rebel against rigid systems of order that emerge from the paper. The mixed materials explore themes of vacancy and desolation\, as well as the ideological instrumentalization of textile craftsmanship and new (East) German realities. \n  \nObjects reminiscent of architecture compete with an installation made of GDR-era particleboard\, which\, specifically for the exhibition\, stages the fictional state of a world beyond the utilitarian constraints of wall units and the like. The fragility of identity is made tangible through the biographies of East Berlin women\, both audibly and visually. This is linked to questions about the protagonists‘ dreams and desires and will further be developed for Frankfurt (Oder).
