DESCRIPTION:jump to english version  \n  \nKubiak & Rauch\, das sind Johannes Ulrich Kubiak (geb. 1961 Annaberg-Buchholz\, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) und Ludwig Rauch (geb. 1960 Leipzig\, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) entwickelten Schichtungs- und Montageverfahren mit fotografischem Rohmaterial\, die zunächst eine unbegrenzte Variabilität in der Motiventfaltung ermöglichten und damit zu einer Bildform führten\, die zwischen grafischer und fotografischer Anmutung mit Malereiprinzipien führten. Denn das fotografische Ausgangsmaterial wurde in eine Form der Lichtmalerei überführt\, deren Tiefenwirkung mit herkömmlichen Techniken der Bildherstellung nicht zu erreichen gewesen wäre. \n  \nObschon die Bildwerke von Kubiak & Rauch als auch die aktuellen Arbeiten von Ludwig Rauch technisch betrachtet der Fotografie zuzuschreiben sind\, sind die Bildkonzepte des Künstlerduos ebenso wie des Einzelkünstlers Ludwig Rauch in den ästhetischen Formulierungen jedoch profund in der Malerei verortet. Motive und Sujets aus unterschiedlichen Themenbereichen werden zu einer Art spielerischem Surrealismus mit teilweise barocker Anmutung verknüpft. Der Bezug zur klassischen Kunst- und Bildgeschichte ist nicht nur ikonographisch evident\, vielmehr spielt auch das inhaltliche Repertoire auf die großen\, basalen Menschheitsfragen der Historie an: Natur\, Architektur und menschlicher Körper (sowie deren Verbindung als Grundlage menschlichen Daseins). \n\n…\nStarting with the photo-experimental images by Kubiak & Rauch\, who\, in addition to their careers as individual artists\, worked as an artist duo for more than 10 years from the early 1990s\, the exhibition draws a line to current images by Ludwig Rauch. \n  \nKubiak & Rauch\, that is Johannes Ulrich Kubiak (born 1961 Annaberg-Buchholz\, lives and works in Berlin) and Ludwig Rauch (born 1960 Leipzig\, lives and works in Berlin) developed layering and montage processes with photographic raw material\, which initially enabled unlimited variability in the development of motifs and thus led to an image form that ranged between graphic and photographic appearance with painting principles. The photographic source material was transformed into a form of light painting whose depth effect could not have been achieved using conventional image production techniques. \n  \nAlthough the images by Kubiak & Rauch as well as the current works by Ludwig Rauch can technically be attributed to photography\, the image concepts of the artist duo as well as the individual artist Ludwig Rauch are profoundly located in painting in their aesthetic formulations. Motifs and subjects from different subject areas are combined to create a kind of playful surrealism with a sometimes baroque appearance. The reference to classical art and visual history is not only evident iconographically\, but the repertoire of content also alludes to the major\, fundamental human questions of history: nature\, architecture and the human body (as well as their connection as the basis of human existence).
