DESCRIPTION:jump to english version  \n  \nDurch künstlerische\, theoretische und biografische Perspektiven entsteht ein Resonanzraum für das Nachdenken über einen „serbski futurizm“\, einen sorbischen Futurismus. Denn während die globale Gegenwart sich beschleunigt und digitalisiert\, bemüht sich kulturelle Arbeit in diesem Kontext häufig konservierend. Bräuche\, Trachten und nicht zuletzt Sprache sind identitätsstiftend. Diese Kulturtechniken sehen sich einer fortschreitenden Diffusion ausgesetzt. Schneider legt hingegen hybride Perspektiven frei: Sorbische Kultur ist historisch gewachsen und lässt sich gerade deshalb auch anders erzählen. Das\, was konserviert wird\, ist so gesehen also nichts Rückwärtsgewandtes. Bewahrt wird der Wandel. \n  \nDoch nur\, wenn das Sichtbarmachen der Vielfalt und Aktualität von lebendiger sorbischer Gegenwartskultur mit dem Blick darüber hinaus verbunden wird\, können diverse Antworten für die Frage gefunden werden: „Was kann sorbisch sein heute bedeuten?“ Im Modus einer in die Zukunft gerichteten Archäologie\, wirft jama: pśichod [Grube: Zukunft] Fragen nach einem kollektiven Gedächtnis auf und danach\, wie Traditionen aktualisiert und gelebt werden können. Dies stellt eine Anschlussfähigkeit auch für benachbarte gesellschaftliche Debatten her. \n  \nKaroline Schneider schloss 2017 ihr Masterstudium bei Ingo Meller und Oliver Kossack ab. Sie ist Mitglied in der b2_Galerie und lebt und arbeitet in Leipzig. \n  \nMit freundlicher Unterstützung der Stiftung für das sorbische Volk erscheint zur Ausstellung eine Publikation mit weiterführenden Texten. \n  \n\n…\nKaroline Schneider’s exhibition project draws on her Sorbian roots. In a spatial installation\, she brings together symbolically charged objects of Sorbian culture in the form of installations\, video\, ceramics\, and augmented reality. Through artistic\, theoretical\, and biographical perspectives\, a space for reflection on „serbski futurizm\,“ a Sorbian futurism\, is created. While the global present accelerates and digitizes\, cultural work in this context often strives for preservation. Customs\, traditional costumes\, and\, not least\, language are identity-forming. These cultural techniques are subject to progressive diffusion. Schneider\, however\, reveals hybrid perspectives: Sorbian culture has grown historically and can therefore be narrated differently. What is preserved\, thus\, is not backward-looking. What is preserved is change itself. \n  \nFor the sake of preservation\, change is preserved. However\, only by highlighting the diversity and relevance of contemporary Sorbian culture and looking beyond it can we find diverse answers to the question: „What can being Sorbian mean today?“ Approaching the work as a future-oriented archaeology\, jama: pśichod [Pit: Future] raises questions about collective memory and how traditions can be updated and lived. This creates a connection to related societal debates. \n  \nKaroline Schneider completed her Master’s degree in 2017 under the supervision of Ingo Meller and Oliver Kossack. She is a member of the b2_Gallery and lives and works in Leipzig. \n  \nA publication accompanying the exhibition\, featuring further texts\, will be released with the generous support of the Foundation for the Sorbian People.
