DESCRIPTION:Gerhard Kurt Müller mit Albert Gleizes\, Fernand Léger\, Kasimir Malewitsch\, Ljubow Popowa\, Nadeschda Udalzowa \n  \njump to english version  \n  \nGerhard Kurt Müller (geb. 1926 Leipzig\, gest. 2019 ebenda) wirkte nach seinem Studium an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig in den 60er Jahren dort als Professor und Rektor\, bevor er sich freischaffend ganz der Kunst widmete. Er gehörte zu den wichtigen Künstlerpersönlichkeiten der „Leipziger Schule“. \n  \nSeine symbolträchtige Personnage mahnte die Existenzgefährdung der Menschheit an. Mit leuchtenden Farben baute der Maestro randvolle Kompositionen in verknappte Bildräume\, ließ die Figuren auf schmalen Bildbühnen Existentielles durchleben und betonte dabei deren Plastizität und kubische Volumina. Vor allem in seinem späteren Werken ballten sich spitze\, kristalline Formen auf den Leinwänden zu dichten Konstruktionen zusammen. \n  \nEine Kooperation mit der GERHARD-KURT-MÜLLER-STIFTUNG Leipzig \n\n…\nGerhard Kurt Müller (born 1926 Leipzig\, died 2019 there) worked as a professor and rector at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig in the 1960s after studying there before devoting himself entirely to art as a freelance artist. He was one of the most important artistic personalities of the „Leipzig School“. \n  \nIn his painting\, graphics and sculpture\, Müller placed the human figure at the center of artistic interest. His symbolic personage warned of the threat to humanity’s existence. Using bright colors\, the maestro built brimming compositions in limited pictorial spaces\, letting the figures live through existential experiences on narrow picture stages and emphasizing their plasticity and cubic volumes. Especially in his later works\, pointed\, crystalline shapes clustered together on the canvases to form dense constructions. Formal references to classical modernism – especially cubism – can be discovered. These borrowings from Cubism took on a life of their own in Müller’s work\, but become visible when compared with works of classical modernism. \n  \nA cooperation with the GERHARD-KURT-MÜLLER-STIFTUNG Leipzig
