DESCRIPTION:jump to english version  \n  \nDie Einzelausstellung des Cottbuser Bildenden Künstlers und Musikers Chris Hinze ist zweiteilig angelegt. Während im Ausstellungssaal Maschinenhaus 1 die neue\, ortsspezifisch angelegte\, raumfüllende Installation Raum der Stille zu sehen ist\, ist die Präsentation im Schalthaus 3 kontrapunktisch ausgerichtet\, indem in geradezu klassisch musealer Form ein Überblick über Bildwerke unterschiedlicher Techniken sowie Skulpturen aus unterschiedlichen Schaffenszeiten gezeigt wird. \n  \nDie Bespielung der beiden Ausstellungsräume ist komplementär angelegt. Durch skulptural-architektonische Interventionen und Klang transformiert die Rauminstallation den musealen Kontext in einen Erfahrungsraum für Besucher*innen\, die zu aktiv Beteiligten werden\, aber auch stille Beobachter*innen bleiben können. Der klassisch mit zwei- und dreidimensionalen Werken bestückte zweite Ausstellungssaal eröffnet hingegen Einblicke in die Entwicklung des Œuvres und dem spezifischen Arbeiten des Künstlers mit unterschiedlichen Material- und Bildsprachen. In den späten 1980er Jahren sich zunächst in erster Linie als Musiker profilierend und im Bereich der Performance experimentierend\, begann Chris Hinze bald seine Auseinandersetzung mit Fragen nach archaischen Lebensformen und deren symbolischen Motivwelten sowie mythologischen Themen auch in Bildwelten zu überführen. Immer wiederkehrende Themenkomplexe sind hierbei das (spirituell konnotierte) Verhältnis von Mensch und Natur sowie die Idee unterschiedlichster Grenzüberschreitungen als intellektuelle\, transzendentale\, gleichermaßen jedoch auch physische und vor allem ästhetische Möglichkeiten der Überwindung (gesellschaftlicher) Zwänge\, Konventionen und (Selbst)Kontrollmechanismen. \n  \nEine Konstante des künstlerischen Schaffens von Chris Hinze ist die profunde Verankerung und Verbindung der Sphären von Musik und Bildender Kunst. So ist er bis heute aktives Mitglied der legendären Band Sandow. \n  \n\n…\nThe solo exhibition of Cottbus-based visual artist and musician Chris Hinze is presented in two parts. While the new\, site-specific\, room-filling installation „Room of Silence“ is on display in the exhibition hall Maschinenhaus 1\, the presentation in Schalthaus 3 takes a contrasting approach\, showcasing an overview of paintings in various techniques and sculptures from different periods of his career in a more traditional museum setting. \n  \nThe two exhibition spaces are designed to complement each other. Through sculptural and architectural interventions and sound\, the spatial installation transforms the museum context into an experiential space for visitors\, who can become active participants or remain silent observers. The second exhibition hall\, featuring two- and three-dimensional works in a more conventional style\, offers insights into the development of the artist’s oeuvre and his specific approach to working with diverse materials and visual languages. Initially establishing himself primarily as a musician and experimenting in performance art in the late 1980s\, Chris Hinze soon began to translate his exploration of archaic ways of life and their symbolic imagery\, as well as mythological themes\, into visual art. Recurring themes include the (spiritually connoted) relationship between humanity and nature\, and the idea of various forms of transgression as intellectual\, transcendental\, physical\, and above all\, aesthetic possibilities for overcoming (societal) constraints\, conventions\, and (self-)control mechanisms. \n  \nA constant in Chris Hinze’s artistic work is the profound integration and connection between the spheres of music and visual art. He remains an active member of the legendary band Sandow to this day.
