DESCRIPTION:jump to english version  \n  \nUngeachtet des Materials und der Bildform durchziehen einige intensiv reflektierte\, sich geradezu wechselseitig bedingende Schwerpunkte die Schau: sie spüren Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Objekt und Raum\, von Körper und Raum\, von Zeit und Raum sowie von Licht und Raum nach. Das Verbindende ist dabei die Bewegung – real\, als Idee oder aber als deren schiere Imagination. \n  \nAnders als meist in der Kunstgeschichte abzulesen\, beruht Alice Bahras Beschäftigung mit Bewegung\, Raum\, Körper und Objekt sowie der daraus resultierenden Bildproduktion nicht auf der (figürlichen) Darstellung des menschlichen Körpers. Vielmehr ist geradezu das Gegenteil der Fall: er ist abwesend und die Auseinandersetzung mit der Physis findet in (und über) die Beschäftigung mit den räumlichen Bedingungen des Körpers und einer abstrakten Formensprache statt. Die Referenzen hierzu ließen sich wohl eher im Bauhaus sowie Werkauffassungen des „Neuen Sehen“ suchen und finden. Kinetische Objekte/Skulpturen und Fotografien von László Moholy-Nagy sowie Fotografien von Lucia Moholy-Nagy und Marianne Brandt bilden für das konzeptuelle Denken und das Œuvre von Alice Bahra einen Referenzraum. Wesentlich sind hierbei nicht nur die ungewöhnlichen Perspektiven auf Flächen\, Gegenstände und Räume\, die Bild- bzw. Objektkonstituierende Elemente ihres Arbeitens sind. Vielmehr ist es vor allem das kontrastreiche Spiel von Licht und Schatten\, aber auch deren Verläufe und Veränderungen\, die eine immaterielle Konstante von Bewegungsmomenten herstellt. \n\n…\nThe solo exhibition by Alice Bahra (born 1945 in Landsberg/Lech\, has lived and worked in Dresden and Potsdam since 1953) focuses on a selection of installations and objects from different creative phases of the artist\, who trained as a potter in the 1970s. All of the exhibits are\, like most of her works\, white and made of porcelain or paper. \n  \nRegardless of the material and the form of the image\, a number of intensely reflected\, almost mutually dependent focal points run through the show: they explore questions about the relationship between object and space\, body and space\, time and space\, and light and space. The connecting factor here is movement – real\, as an idea or as its sheer imagination. \n  \nAlice Bahra’s preoccupation with movement\, space\, body and object and the resulting image production is not based on the (figurative) representation of the human body. In fact\, the opposite is the case: it is absent and the confrontation with the physical takes place in (and through) the preoccupation with the spatial conditions of the body and an abstract formal language. The references to this are more likely to be sought and found in the Bauhaus and in the conceptions of the “New Vision”. Kinetic objects/sculptures and photographs by László Moholy-Nagy as well as photographs by Lucia Moholy-Nagy and Marianne Brandt form a reference space for the conceptual thinking and oeuvre of Alice Bahra. What is important here is not only the unusual perspectives on surfaces\, objects and spaces\, which are image and object constitutive elements in her work. Rather\, it is above all the contrasting play of light and shadow\, but also their progressions and changes\, that creates an immaterial constant of moments of movement.
